Ultrasound may not be the answer for leg ulcers but natural ultra care and laughter definitely seems to do the trick.

Yes, this was the conclusion that was reached after five years of intensive study conducted at Leeds University, UK, where a group of scientists got their heads together to test out the effectiveness of an ultrasound device called an ultrasound ‘wand’, for the treatment of leg ulcers. They found instead that the benefits of laughing came out tops.

Studies on Laughter vs Ultrasound

Unfortunately for the scientists, it turned out that, in this particular case, ultrasound treatment wasn’t effective at all, even though ultrasound does indeed have its uses in many other medical applications. It had no effect at all on speeding up the healing process of leg ulcers.

On the other hand, they did find something that worked very well indeed and which did not require any expensive equipment or special treatments.

Basically it boiled down to good old common sense care with just a touch of that little extra we can all do with a little more of – laughter. The health benefits of laughter have been documented in many other studies before.

The simple routine consists of wearing support stockings, eating healthily, doing regular exercise and getting a good dose of good old hearty laughter as often as possible. Yes, indeed, the researchers discovered that taking a ‘laughter prescription’ helps to bring about healthy physiological changes that contribute significantly to the healing of leg ulcers.

Science and the Benefits of Laughter

Professor Nelson, heading this research at the University School of Health Care stated that:

‘The key to care with this group of patients is to stimulate blood flow back up the legs to the heart. The best way to do that is with compression bandages and support stockings – not ‘magic wands’ – coupled with advice on diet and exercise.’

She also added that a ‘hearty chuckle’ is also very helpful particularly since it improves blood circulation and flow around the body. Ulcers can often develop due to poor circulation and because of the poor blood flow can also take a significantly longer time to heal. So anything that can help better blood flow is useful. Laughter therapy research reveals that it helps to boost the immune system and relieve pain and so provides a better and more comfortable environment for healing. What better way to do it than to have a good old belly laugh and enjoy the healing process as it heals. Besides it is free, unlike the more expensive ultrasound medical treatment.

In fact without it we can even end up being depressed, developing chronic fatigue illness, diabetes, heart problems and more.

Magnesium is present in nearly every part of the body.

This includes the bones, tissues, organs and blood.

It is an essential component of the messaging system of the body and all of its necessary biochemical processes.

It works together with other minerals and nutrients to strengthen the bones, detoxify the body and promote muscle relaxation.

Without it we will suffer the consequences in terms of deteriorating health.

How Magnesium Supports the Body:

It helps maintain a steady heart rhythm

It plays an essential part in the regular functioning of nerves and muscles

Magnesium helps the immune system to work well. Many of the body’s enzymes need it in order to function properly

Regulates blood sugar levels through its interaction with insulin, thus helping prevent diabetes.

It helps to keep blood pressure at normal levels and lowers the risk of hypertension

About half of all the magnesium in the body goes into strengthening the bones and, together with calcium, plays a vital role in the formation of bones and teeth

Plays an important part in body metabolism and the synthesis of proteins

The digestive system, the kidneys, the liver, our hormone-secreting glands, and the brain all need magnesium to metabolise

It helps to keep us feeling well and healthy and can promote positive feelings

Are We Getting Enough?

The typical fast-track Western lifestyle and the prevalence of processed and refined foods in our diets and increased consumption of alcohol suggests that we are taking in much less magnesium than our counterparts did, even 20 to 30 years ago. On top of that certain medications can result in lowered levels of magnesium in the body. This would include cetain diuretics, antibiotics and some cancer drugs.

People who suffer from diabetes, if it is not properly managed, may also lose magnesium through their urine when hyperglycemic. Stress and menstruation are two more contributory factors leading to depleted levels of magnesium, along with gastro-intestinal problems. Older people generally also tend to have lower levels of this important mineral in their bodies as the ability to absorb it decreases as we age.

Laughing Helps Your Body and So Does Magnesium – How to Get More

The best way to increase the intake of magnesium and lower your chances of getting a chronic illness is by making some changes to what you eat and how you prepare it. The foods richest in this important mineral include green leafy spinach, green peas and beans (its in the chlorophyll) and broccoli. Other sources include nuts such as Almonds and walnuts, seeds such as from the pumpkin and unrefined flour or wholegrain products such as brown rice and wholewheat breads.

If you smile and focus on being grateful for the good foods that you eat, this actually adds to its nutritious provision – just check out Dr Emoto’s work on the effects of thoughts and emotions on water, mentioned in an earlier article ‘The Happiness Diet‘

Remember that overcooking foods leads to a loss of its essential nutrients, including a leaching away of the minerals you need. If required, magnesium supplements are available but research would need to be done to check it is able to be absorbed well and it is always a good idea to check things out with a doctor before proceeding with any changes to diet.

Change your diet and change your life … it could be that simple. Who really wants to end up living with chronic illness when it is avoidable?

Sometimes we can get so caught up in how complex life is. We can end up feeling overwhelmed by the hundreds of things we feel we have to do, like yesterday!

And we forget to take a moment out, just to slow down a little, even just for that moment. Yet it can make such a difference – it creates a reconnection to our essential harmony inside that often gets so blocked out or coverd up by all the hustle and bustle. Do yourself a favor and STOP …. then breathe in a few deep breaths. Next, allow yourself to smile and feel how it feels to take a deep breath and smile – nothing short of uplifting as far as I’m concerned.

Now, while you are in this state, take it just one step further and visualise yourself or get a sense of yourself in a beautiful place of nature, with blue skies, fresh, green foliage, maybe a gentle warm breeze wafting across your face and a few birds singing in the background.

The body doesn’t know the difference between what is imagined and what is real so it will be as if you are really there… having a mini, mini holiday ahh-hh-h

Just these two simple steps can really refresh you, heal your body and dissolve any stress almost instantly. It can give you the energy to continue your day in a positive frame of mind and in a way that is enjoyable. And these steps only need take a a very short time, like this half minute video below ….

Our number one priority should be our health and well-being, mentally and physically and spiritually. We should prioritize the conditions of our mind, body and spirit always for it is only in this way that we can contribute to the good of everyone. There are various evidences that show how happiness is actually related to feeling better and how laughter is beautiful and has a positive effect on our health and relationships.

Since time began it seems it has always been held that laughter is the best medicine. We commonly hear our peers and families reminding us of the reasons that are worth smiling and laughing about. But the truth is, maybe you only agree with the statement without really fully understanding why laughing is good for you and for your entire well being.

Laughing starts everything right. It has the effect of making you feel fresh. It even takes away the negative thoughts and feelings within and around you. But the reality is, very few are familiar with the large number of benefits of laughing in our life. Small things are not noticed so much which can do great things for you, being more relaxed, for example.

According to laughter therapy research, here are some of the reasons why laughter is beneficial:

1. Dissolves Pain Away

A study in 1996 revealed that patients who underwent surgery needed fewer pain tablets if they watched funny or humorous movies. Indeed, several studies have now shown that it considerably improves the quality of life for people in pain. It’s even stronger than a pill of morphine. The best cure for pain is to laugh your heart out.

2. Dissolves Stress

Our society is now operating at a faster pace than ever before, making all our lives pressured and stressful. Working and meeting deadlines have pulled us down by the end of the day. Added with some marriage problems, financial glitches, and illness problems it may lead to prolonged anxiety and depression. Research proves that when you laugh, it will take all your worries and stresses away. Laughing proves to be effective time and again in fighting away stress and depression.

3. Nurtures Your Heart Health

Your heart is one of the greatest beneficiaries of laughter, and studies at the University of Seattle confirm that the effects are abundant. The blood vessels perform efficiently through laughing by relaxing the vessels. As an outcome, you will achieve a better, more regular flow of blood.

With these benefits, we are pretty sure that laughing is a good habit. It is a fun way to start – healthy and funny at the same time. On the other hand being unhappy can compromise our immmune system which would incline us to a lot of sickness.

Make it a routine to smile and laugh regularly to ensure a healthy happy life.

Take a breathing test and see if you are living optimally for good health

For some people this can mean the difference between life and death and for others it can mean learning how to reach their peak performance.

Here’s what we will be covering today:

Breathing tests: What does Breathing have to do with health?

What are some of the things that can lead to Cancer and what role can we play in the prevention or healing of it?

Try a free Optimal Breathing Test

Cancer Prevention and Cure?

I think all of us know someone who is affected by cancer, whether they have cancer now or have had it in the past or know someone in their family who has cancer or has had it.

At this very moment, as I speak, a close member of my family has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the salivary gland and has recently had a pretty drastic operation which has left the muscles on the right side of her face more or less paralysed.

I, myself had cancer of the cervix resulting in surgery about 20 years ago and my own mother died of a cancer that spread into the lymphatic system. I also had an uncle who died of skin cancer. So this potentially deadly disease has certainly affected myself and my dearest ones and I’m sure people who you know too.

However in this age of information it is now becoming more and more possible to actively particpate in our own healing and prevention as we come to understand much more about the causes and contributory factors of cancer and what we can do to support the healing process naturally and alongside other conventional approaches

To this end I have drawn up a list below of some of the main areas, activities, foods and lifestyle choices that are generally associated with an increased risk of cancer. Not all of them are directly causal but all are contributory.

List of Cancer Risk factors

1. Diet: Eating meats that are high in fat. A consistently high fat, high protein diet

2. Drinking a lot of coffee, tea, coke and many other fizzy drinks

3. Aflatoxins i.e fungal products found in foods like peanuts and soya

4. A diet low in iodine and essential vitamins and minerals

5. Amines, nitrosamines, found in unrefrigerated foods, processed meat and cheese

6. Slow movement of foods through the colon

7. Overeating (associated in 35% of all cancers) and being overweight

8. Some species of mushrooms

9. A diet high in refined foods and sugars

10. History of any previous cancer

11. Diabetes

12. Early sexual activities – particularly cervical cancer

13. Family history and genetics, age, race, sex and occupation

All of these, singly or accumulatively, can lead to an overtaxing of the sympathetic nervous system which leads to an inhibition of the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in vaso-constriction of the blood vessels which turns the body toward toxemia and acidosis thus allowing anaerobic organisms to multiply and take over.

If you have poor breathing it may not cause cancer directly but since cancer is anaerobic and is not able to survive in high concentrations of oxygen anything that increases the oxygen in your body and blood supply is good.

Creeping Cancer

The origins of the word, cancer, lie in the Latin term for ‘crab’. Cancer was described as a crab-like disease by Hippocrates, who noticed that cancer, by nature creeps and spreads throughout the body, eventually bringing death. Now cancer is more usually defined as an uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells in the body.

Cancer is actually more than one disease and is a general term used to describe over 100 different types, but what is common about them is that they all include a process whereby body cells multiply in an uncontrolled way.

Since cancer is anaerobic it can’t survive where oxygen is present. This explains why the One organ that is otherwise so prone to failing under constant stress and poor diet, the heart, in fact never gets cancer. The heart thrives on a plentiful supply of oxygen.

How Optimal Breathing Helps

Optimal breathing can help to provide an adequate supply of oxygen to the body and works very well alongside other remedies and techniques to ensure good health and a much lower risk of cancer and much higher survival rates

The thing to remember though… is that as the body uses its oxygen supply it also produces, as a by product of the process, lots of free radicals which themselves can cause damage and this is where antioxidants comes in.

The Role of Antioxidants

Antioxidants found in some foods prevent or slow the oxidative damage to our body.

They act as "free radical scavengers" and in this way prevent and repair any damage done by these free radicals.

Antioxidants are provided by taking nutrients: Make sure you have a diet rich in antioxidants

Vitamin A and carotenoids

Vitamin C found mainly in citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables

Vitamin E found in nuts and grains

Selenium (in fish, red meat, eggs, garlic)

Superfoods like Saw Palmetto and Acai berry.

Flavonoids from pomegranate and purple grapes

Lycopene from tomatoes

Lutein from dark green vegetables

Lignan from oats and rye

Other natural remedies

Other alternative remedies which help in the fight against cancer and indeed most other chronic illnesses include:

- internal cleansing

- parasite elimination

- de-stressing and

- changing one’s self defeating thoughts and attitudes

Lowering stress and Changing one’s attitude has a direct bearing on the immune system and five of the best ways to do this are laughter , daily positive affirmations, listening to relaxation music , walks in nature and various meditative practices

Hypervigilant thoughts (often as a result of some trauma) or negative thinking, being self-criticising, feeling guilty, blaming others, added together with poor hygiene and toxic overload can create an environment that invites a flood of unfriendly baceria and organisms into the body.

Eventually the body’s immune system, biochemical and energetic system and basic life flow becomes overwhelmed by chaos, disruptions and blockages. All of this may invite cancer and other serious diseases to take over.

EFT is a great help

This new and latest energy therapy EFT, as you may have seen in my free video, is based on tapping on the acupressure points of the body to unblock any blocks in the energy flow of the body which may have come about through mental, physical, environmental and emotional upsets and stresses, resulting in pain and illness.

In summary

A positive attitude, good nutrition, proper breathing and body energy balancing protects you from cancer and other serious illnesses

Being calm is better for you than blaming or feeling guilty

Optimal Breathing can contribute to a lowered risk of cancer, healing of cancer already present and better overall health

The more time you spend breathing optimally and with a positive outlook and feelings of empowerment the healthier you are likely to be

These are skills you can develop and practise
